I rebound this book by hand in my workshop in Tuscany, Italy. It's a casebound hardcover, made with high-quality book cloth, a painted top edge, coloured headbands and marbled endpapers.
Casebound means the cover is made separately from the book block (all the pages, plus the headbands and endpapers), and the final step is uniting the two by gluing them together. This technique is perfectly suited to rebinding, as it takes an existing book block and gives it a new, sturdier cover.
I screen print the book cloth with a pattern of my own design, and the titles on the front and spine are made with heat transfer vinyl.
This is a one-of-a-kind edition: there are no other books exactly like it. The colour combination is unique, the design is unique, and it will stay that way!
The purpose of this project is to rescue old books and make them worthy of a spot on your bookshelf for years to come. With a new hardcover, these stories can last through another generation of readers!
Because this is a rebound second-hand book, you may find some yellowing pages, small marks or stains and sometimes names or pricing in the front of the book.
